WASHINGTON – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) released a response today [attachment] to the recent U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that examined the Agency’s 2014 study on the hours-of-service (HOS) changes that were made in 2011 and implemented in 2013. The report also examined the rule’s assumptions and effects. The HOS rules govern the amount of time commercial truck drivers transporting freight can work and drive on a daily and weekly basis. The response from FMCSA acknowledged the recommendations of the report and agreed to implement those suggestions.
